Cerro Colorado or Apidame in the Tehuelche language is a must-see climbing destination in Aysén. This imposing mountain of red basalt columns is in the Chilean steppe, a few kilometers from the town of Chile Chico.

This is a 2 or more days trip from Villa Cerro Castillo. We will travel to Puerto Ibañez to take the ferry that crosses Lago General Carrera, the largest lake in Chile. After our navigation we will arrive at Chile Chico and later to the Apidame.

In Cerro Colorado we will climb multi-pitch routes in traditional style, following perfect cracks, chimneys and dihedrals in the basalt columns. To get to our base camp we will have an approach of about three hours on easy terrain.

On this expedition you will be able to enjoy incredible views of the Patagonian steppe, as well as spot wildlife such as guanacos, foxes and condors and have interactions with local people.
